Evelyn Keyes, Scarlett O’Hara’s younger sister, has died at 91
Actress Evelyn Keyes, also knows as Suellen from Gone With the Wind, the beautiful actress who played Scarlett O’Hara’s younger sister, has died in California at the age of 91.
It seems that she died July 4 because of uterine cancer at her home in Montecito, near Santa Barbara. The news was released only after the death certificate was done, because the lawyers wanted so, Evelyn's close friend Allan Glaser said.
Evelyn Keyes was famous for her adventurous marriages too, having been married to some important people as directors Huston and Vidor, or even to the producer Mike Todd.
Beautiful actress starred in many big films of those times as "Around the World in 80 Days", getting a contract at Columbia Pictures. From then on, her career started getting bigger and bigger.
"Gone With the Wind" , "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" , "The Jolson Story" , "Mrs. Mike" , "Johnny O'Clock" , "The Killer That Stalked New York" , "The Prowler" , "99 River Street" , "The Big Combo" , "The Lady in Question" are just some of her roles, roles who opened her future.
Evelyn Keyes spoke for the last time about her life and career in a 1999 interview:
"To become a big movie star like Joan Crawford you need to wear blinders and pay single-minded attention to your career. Nobody paid attention to me, including me. I was the original Cinderella girl, looking for the happy ending in the fairy story. But my fantasy prince never came."
